Why should you choose the Sierra de Gredos Field for your  Biology Field Studies?

-Vegetation: The vegetation of the Gredos is formed from a combination of about 1500 different species of plants, distributed in distinct bioclimatic zones, therefore forming distinct ecosystems depending on the abiotic factors (light, temperature, humidity, soil type,..) and on human influence. In the highest zones of the Sierra de Gredos is where we can find the majority of the 14 endemic species of the Gredos.

-Fauna: We only need to mention that in the area of the Regional Park we can find 230 different species of vertebrates to impress upon you the importance of this area for the variety of its fauna.  There are 4 endemic local subspecies: the Almanzor salamander (Salamandra salamandra almanzoris), the Gredos toad (Bufo bufo gredosicola), the Ávila snow vole ( Chionomys nivalis abulensis) and the mountain goat, ibex (Capra pyrenaica victoriae)
