Science field trips: Laying foundations for future choices

It is during this critical stage that children will make their choices for the future. Science field trips can provide the inspiration which convinces them that science is what they want to do!

Key Stage 3 science programmes are fixed length courses with clearly stated outcomes that enable teachers to quickly and easily book field trips, safe in the knowledge that the field trip will be directly related to work taught in the classroom and will contribute to achieving the curriculum. Each science programme can be adapted to suit year 7 groups as well as older pupils (years 8 + 9).

All Key stage 3 Programmes will include:

Clear progression from discovery fieldwork through teacher-led enquiry to independent investigations.
Clear links to QCA schemes of work.
Supported by focused resources, including ICT.
As well as covering specific elements of the science curriculum all field trips also place a strong emphasis on developing personal confidence and team-building skills and an opportunity to consider aspects of Citizenship.
