Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Gredos Centre offers a unique environment for the Expedition part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, from Bronze to Gold level:

• Friendly and homely atmosphere
• Safe and quiet countryside area
• Professional and experienced staff (10 years)
• Extra adventure activities and cultural trips to nearby cities. 

Expeditions can be done either hiking, biking or horse riding. We also offer preparational training.

The main points that make the area ideal for the purpose are the following:
• Extensive, varied and unpopulated terrain
• a vast amount of trails: open meadowland, mountain streams and rivers, ancient woodlands
• a favourable climate: unspoilt mountainous region with sunny weather

The centre provides a good base for training and route planning. Various short excursions have been designed to serve as training routes. Furthermore, our team can help both with training and with checkpoint control. There is transport to bring the children to starting points and pick them up at the finish. Material like tents, sleeping mats, compasses, maps, stoves, pans, etc. are available at the Centre.

Expeditions for Bronze, Silver and Gold level have been designed in close co-operation with experienced teachers. However, they can be easily adapted if the expedition party should so desire. There are always alternative trails that will make the routes either more difficult or easier, depending on the skills of the group.
