An investigation into a meander and how far it conforms to textbook theory is an option at this level, or a comparison between a meandering reach of stream and a straight reach. Simple downstream changes can also be investigated. An investigation into levels of pollution in differing environments is also possible

The Centre has its own weather station. We also serve as a collecting station for Spain's central meteorological centre. Students can see the old and the new methods of information collection. We also have records of the climate for the last few years.

Comparison of two villages. One village is on the main road and has been affected by growth in the tourist industry. The other is more remote and has been less affected by tourism and retains more of its agricultural heritage.

A study of the CBD of Avila is possible similar to that offered for A and AS level but adapted to the needs of your students.

An investigation into a honey pot location and the effects of tourism such as footpath erosion within a glaciated highland area can be undertaken. This can also be combined with a study of the rocks and the landforms of the area.

In depth comparison of two villages using primary and secondary data. A number of village sites are possible including villages along the main tourist route, more remote villages and villages within the commuter catchment zone of the provincial capital.

Interpreting abundance and relative distribution of lichens, depending on abiotic factors

Reproduction of plants

Freshwater survey before and after the sewage work exit, investigating the biotic and abiotic factors. Visiting the purification plant.

Comparison of four different ecosystems by making a profile and a belt transect.

We will be using it to see if there is a difference in spatial patterns between the managed woodland and the commercial woodland.

They need to follow different indications all around the village in order to win the price.

They have to develop a TV programme and the different sections: news, interviews, the weather, gossip programmes, etc.

We film them and watch it to analyse the results.

To prepare a top model parade involves describing and talking about what your colleagues are wearing and to perform a funny fashion show.

Spanish traditional basket waving, painting T-shirts and creating face masks are some of the possibilities of creative workshops at GC.

  Keep fit with Spanish rhythms and practice very practical vocabulary in Spanish.

We can include 20/30 minutes taking exercise, stretching or dancing before breakfast everyday. We achieve two objectives: keeping fit and learning by repeating everyday the vocabulary necessary to do this activity.

Cross-Curricular studies can also be approached through the study of a THEME. We could offer a stuy of ENERGY which would include aspects of History, Physics, Biology and Geography through the following topics:

- Energy in the past - Water mills (examples).

- Renewable energy - Solar power.

- Energy in the plant kingdom.

- Energy through the food chain.
